Measure and control temperature via network or web with IP Thermometer
The environmental factor temperature has a major impact on business-critical infrastructures such as production, logistics, technical facilities, or server rooms. Technical, network, and server rooms in particular depend on continuous cooling. Failures in climate control systems have an immediate effect on the availability of important servers and the applications running on them. If the climate unit in the server room fails, the rack temperature can reach critical levels.
The consequences of overheating in the server room can include hardware damage and downtime. Unplanned IT downtime has an immediate impact on a company’s business processes. In the worst case, employees may no longer be able to perform their work. An IT failure can cost a company several thousand euros per hour.
Every IT manager and managing director should be aware of this. Therefore, the physical environmental factor temperature should be monitored around the clock with an IP thermometer, and any deviations should be reported early.
Didactum Security GmbH – Specialist provider for IP thermometers
The specialist provider of IT security technology, Didactum® Security GmbH from Münster, offers proven IP thermometers for the non-stop temperature monitoring of server room and data center environments.
At Didactum® Security GmbH, CONSULTING is always a top priority. This ensures that every customer receives a tailored solution for IP-based environmental monitoring. Roger Oeltjendiers, Managing Partner of Didactum® Security GmbH, presents recommended IP thermometers and their key features.
sensorProbe2 IP thermometer from AKCess Pro®
The sensorProbe2 IP thermometer consists of a control unit and a precise temperature sensor. AKCess Pro®, manufacturer of the sensorProbe2, states that it has sold well over 50,000 of these network-based monitoring systems. The sensorProbe2 IP thermometer offers an RJ-45 network connection and an integrated web server. If desired, this IP thermometer is also available as a PoE model.
You can easily log in to this measurement and alarm system via browser. The temperature sensor included with the sensorProbe2 monitoring device is factory-calibrated to ISO standards. Once you plug the RJ-45 connector of the temperature sensor into one of the two sensor ports of the sensorProbe2, it will be automatically detected and listed in the web interface.
A second sensor from AKCess Pro can be connected to the second sensor port. Didactum® Security GmbH, the official sensorProbe supplier, offers a wide range of important sensors. Our consultants are happy to assist you with professional expertise regarding any questions about IP thermometers. Once the sensor is connected, temperature recording by this IP thermometer begins immediately. The measured temperature values are stored in the sensorProbe2’s data logger. For documentation purposes, the temperature measurement data can be easily downloaded from this IP thermometer. The temperature graphs can be displayed clearly directly in the sensorProbe2’s web GUI.
This IP thermometer also provides important notification and alarm functions when the required temperature values deviate. After all, it is crucial to take timely countermeasures when critical temperatures occur in the server room. You can set individual threshold and alarm values for temperature. Specify at which temperature an alarm should be sent via email or SMS (via third-party gateway). If desired, alarms for too low or too high temperatures can be triggered by a siren with a flashing light.
The sensorProbe2 IP thermometer from AKCess Pro® is fully SNMP-compatible and supports NMS (Network Management Systems). Via SNMP, the current temperature value of the sensor can be polled directly over the TCP/IP network. The sensorProbe2 IP thermometer also sends SNMP traps to system and network monitoring software. Recently, the sensorProbe2 monitoring hardware was officially approved by Nagios.
If IP thermometers with a larger number of temperature sensors are required, the sensorProbe4 or sensorProbe8 measuring devices are available. Remotely mounted temperature sensors are ideal for monitoring large rooms. In this case, the factory-supplied 1.5m Cat5 sensor cable can be replaced with your own CATx network cable, with a total length of up to 300 meters.
24x7 monitoring via network or internet
With the TCP/IP-based monitoring systems and compatible SNMP sensors offered by Didactum Security GmbH, you receive proven monitoring hardware for the reliable supervision of your critical rooms and systems. The AKCP sensorProbe and AKCP securityProbe IP alarm servers from manufacturer AKCess Pro represent autonomous remote monitoring systems that can be equipped with individual sensors. Our extensive range of intelligent sensors includes, among others, environmental sensors, security sensors, and voltage sensors. Be alerted in time in case of temperature rise, water leakage, or power failure before your critical rooms and infrastructures are exposed to disastrous incidents!
Possible downtimes and the associated economic and legal consequences—such as loss of revenue, contractual penalties, or reputational damage—can be significantly reduced with our monitoring systems. If you are already using a network management system such as Nagios or OpenNMS, you will appreciate how quickly and easily our monitoring systems can be integrated.
